Epiq: is a settlement notice or EpiqPay email real?
Updated · Sources
Epiq is a real company, and judges have named it in class actions to run notice and payments; its class action unit is Epiq Class Action & Claims Solutions, Inc. Epiqchecked October 1, 2026, and its payment platform, EpiqPay, sends the payment emails in some of its cases. Most doubts start with a payment email from a sender people don't recognize, and we found no list of Epiq's class action cases on its website, so the way to check a message is through the case's own website and the court record, as set out below.

One company, several names and places
Real Epiq documents use more than one name. The class action unit's privacy policy uses the name in the box above. Epiq's website terms name the parent, Epiq Systems, Inc. Epiq Systems, Inc.checked October 1, 2026, and on the Federal Trade Commission's refunds page the contact column reads "Epiq Systems" in 13 programs on the FTC refunds list (as read on October 1, 2026) Federal Trade Commissionchecked October 1, 2026. A court order filed years ago captions the unit as formerly Poorman-Douglas Corporation U.S. District Court, D. Or., Epiq Class Action and Claims Solutions, Inc. v. Prutsman, No. CV 09-1185-MO, Opinion and Order, ECF 74checked October 1, 2026, and an Epiq officer's declaration calls its notice business Epiq Legal Noticing (aka Hilsoft Notifications) U.S. District Court, E.D. Ark., Knight v. Progressive Northwestern Insurance Co., No. 3:22-cv-00203-JM, ECF 178checked October 1, 2026.
Places vary too. Epiq's privacy office is at 10300 SW Allen Blvd., Beaverton, OR 97005 Epiqchecked October 1, 2026, while the mail for each case goes to a P.O. box in Portland, Oregon, such as P.O. Box 5534, Portland, OR 97228-5534 (Zoom case) Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026 or P.O. Box 2630, Portland, OR 97208-2630 (ECL case) ECL Privacy Breach Litigation settlement website, Internet Archive capturechecked October 1, 2026, archived copy of October 12, 2025. The phone number for a case is printed on that case's notice and website, for example 1-800-397-3418 (Zoom case) Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026. Seeing Beaverton on one paper and Portland on another is normal for Epiq.
What Epiq's notices carry
In a declaration filed in an Arkansas federal case, Declaration of Cameron R. Azari on implementation and adequacy of class certification notice plan, Epiq described how it sent notice and attached the email itself:
- The sender: an address made for the case at e.epiqnotice.com U.S. District Court, E.D. Ark., Knight v. Progressive Northwestern Insurance Co., No. 3:22-cv-00203-JM, ECF 178checked October 1, 2026. The filed example names the case in the display name and in the part before the @.
- The format: embedded HTML text, a unique message identifier on each email, and a link to the case website U.S. District Court, E.D. Ark., Knight v. Progressive Northwestern Insurance Co., No. 3:22-cv-00203-JM, ECF 178checked October 1, 2026.
- The fallback: A postcard notice by USPS first class mail where no valid email address was available U.S. District Court, E.D. Ark., Knight v. Progressive Northwestern Insurance Co., No. 3:22-cv-00203-JM, ECF 178checked October 1, 2026.
The website in an Epiq notice is the case's own address, not Epiq's corporate site; the Zoom and ECL case sites mentioned here each sit on a domain made for that case, with Epiq named in the footer. Epiq describes its own part this way: “We work with the settling parties, the court, and the class members in a neutral facilitation role” Epiqchecked October 1, 2026.
EpiqPay and Tremendous payment emails
Epiq pays some settlements through its own platform rather than by mailed check. On the Zoom case website, Epiq describes EpiqPay this way: “The official digital payment platform for Epiq Class Action and Claims Solutions.” The same FAQ says an email from noreply@epiqpay.com Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026 means the person was found eligible for a payment.
- Each EpiqPay payment and reminder email contains a "Claim Payment" link that leads to a payment dashboard Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026.
- After a choice is made, the same FAQ says messages may follow from a payment partner, rewards@tremendous.com Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026, saying the payment is in process.
- On the ECL case site Epiq says the options shown after "Claim Payment" are the only ones available under that settlement, with a paper check possibly available ECL Privacy Breach Litigation settlement website, Internet Archive capturechecked October 1, 2026, archived copy of October 12, 2025.
- On its own EpiqPay page, Epiq states that EpiqPay debits the settlement fund only once a payee makes a payment selection Epiqchecked October 1, 2026.
How payments arrive in general, and what to do with an expired one, is covered under settlement payments.
Why people doubt Epiq messages
Epiq's own case FAQ takes up the doubt directly, under the question “I received an email from EpiqPay. What is the email about and is the email legitimate?” Zoom Video Communications Litigation settlement websitechecked October 1, 2026 Four things drive that doubt:
- An unfamiliar sender. Notice emails come from one domain, payment emails from another, and payment updates from a third company. None of the three is epiqglobal.com.
- A choice of digital payments. A list of prepaid cards and transfer apps looks like a sales pitch, but in the case quoted above Epiq says that list is the full set the settlement allows.
- The "Epiq 11" link. The case search linked from the menu of Epiq's home page is "Epiq 11", listed under Bankruptcy. It opens a bankruptcy case portal, not a class action search, so people who look for their settlement there do not find it.
- The lawsuit in the news. Epiq is a defendant in a federal case about how administrators handled settlement payments; it is described below.
How to check a notice that names Epiq
We found no public list or search of Epiq's class action cases on its website on the date in the box above. The check therefore runs through the case itself.
- From the notice, write down the case name, the court, the case number if printed, and the website address. Do not click a link in the message to do this.
- If the notice is about a refund from the Federal Trade Commission rather than a class action, go to the Federal Trade Commission's page Refunds (list of refund programs with the contact for each) without using a link from the message, and find the program by company name. The page shows the program's phone number and the company handling it.
- For a class action, find the case in court records (how to look up a class action case). The order approving the notice, or the long-form notice filed with it, names the administrator and the settlement website.
- Type the settlement website from that court document into your browser. On the Epiq case sites read for this page, the footer names Epiq and the contact page gives a case P.O. box and toll-free number like the examples above.
- For an EpiqPay email, go to the case website you reached in step 4 and read its payment FAQ before you use the email's "Claim Payment" link. A real case site explains which payment emails that case sends.

Fact-checks of EpiqPay emails
A fact-checker looked at two EpiqPay emails and rated both genuine: Is Zoom Settlement Email Mentioning EpiqPay a Scam or Legit? (May 31, 2023) and Is Scripps Health Settlement Email Mentioning EpiqPay a Scam or Legit? (June 8, 2023). Those ratings were about those two campaigns only.
MDL No. 3162: a lawsuit about settlement payments
Epiq is a defendant in In re Class Action Settlement Administration Litigation, MDL No. 3162, No. 1:25-mc-00179, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia U.S. District Court, D.D.C., In re Class Action Settlement Administration Litigation, MDL No. 3162, No. 1:25-mc-00179-JDB, Dkt. 165checked October 1, 2026, assigned to Judge John D. Bates. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created it by an order of December 12, 2025. The consolidated complaint was filed May 18, 2026 U.S. District Court, D.D.C., MDL No. 3162, ECF 123, Consolidated Class Action Complaintchecked October 1, 2026. In short, the plaintiffs allege that class members' distributions were reduced because administrators and payment and bank companies took value from settlement funds without disclosing those arrangements. These are the plaintiffs' allegations, not findings.
Both Epiq companies have moved to dismiss the complaint; the plaintiffs filed their opposition to that motion on September 15, 2026 U.S. District Court, D.D.C., In re Class Action Settlement Administration Litigation, MDL No. 3162, No. 1:25-mc-00179-JDB, Dkt. 165checked October 1, 2026. The latest docket entry read for this page was September 23, 2026 (status conference) U.S. District Court, D.D.C., MDL No. 3162 docket, public feed on CourtListenerchecked October 1, 2026. This page reports no ruling on the motion; the docket shows where the case stands. The case is about how payments were handled, not about whether Epiq notices are genuine.
Epiq also appears in a different court record: in the East Palestine derailment settlement, the court named it substitute administrator after removing the first one, as described on the Kroll page.
What was not found
We found no court, attorney general or Federal Trade Commission record of a scam using the Epiq name, and no page on Epiq's site on recognizing its real notices; its pages on fraud are about false claims filed against settlements. For the signs that apply to any notice, see how to tell whether a settlement notice is real.
